Commentarii Senatus (Comments from the Senate)
I would like to take this opportunity to thank Michael Thai for his support over the years. He offered WSGS a rental premise when he started his business and gave WSGS a supportive environment to meet and play tabletop games. Now with growth and changes in his business, WSGS will be moving to
Quakers Hill High School and we will have our first meeting at Quakers Hill on the 7th December 2003.
As a new initiative, the new meeting dates for 2004 include two all weekend meetings per year for big games over Saturday and Sunday. All tabletop games are
welcome at all meeting dates.
q WSGS Inter-club Challenge – 2003 RESULTS – Game Played 40K (Science Fiction)
On the 9th November 2003 WSGS successfully defended the trophy at the 2003 interclub challenge hosted by Penrith Emperor’s Legion. We won by the skin of our teeth, a
massive 0.5 points over the Western Warriors (GW club Baulkham Hills). The host Penrith Emperor’s Legion ran the event along with their normal meeting, which made for a big event. The WSGS winning team for 2003 consisted of:
q Ross Heenan Ork Speed Freaks
q Jamie Patterson Space Wolves
q Scott Hacking Blood Angels
q Trevor Williams Chaos Iron Warriors
q Family Day 2nd November
This saw eight children 14 years and under sit around a large painting desk. There were four kids between 9 and 14 years old. Three kids between 5 and 8 and one two and a half year old. (7 boys, 1 girl) The
little two year old sat and painted on paper using child safe kids colours.
The others all received a CHAOS Weasel from Eureka Miniatures for free. These Aliens require assembly so each miniature ends up with a different pose. (I had assembled a dozen and undercoated them the night before so that the
kids could commence painting straight away.)
We had 4 parents/ responsible adults assisting the kids paint and only one accident, where my 2 year old fell asleep in my arms and then gave me a wet present. Three of the boys learn to dry brush on the day. While I was cleaning up, some of the kids played a
board game having finished their miniature.
At lunch time the kids received a sausage sandwich or two for free from the sausage sizzle.
The kids also got to see a large Battletech campaign in action and a 40K game.
I would like to thank Mitchell for cooking, the parents for helping, Eureka Miniatures for donating the miniatures and Matisse paint for donating the Artist Flow range and the safe kids' paint for toddlers.
q Battletech Campaign Report – (Played 2nd November 2003) – Science Fiction
Year 3052, November 5th,
The warriors of the 5th Steel Vipers attacked and secured an ammo plant last week, the invasion continues on. It was a hard fought battle with the Inner sphere defenders fighting just about to their
death to defend what must be a major ammunition construction facility for this part of the galaxy.
The Khan shows pleasure with the invasion thus far, but has also told his forces to be ever vigilant in the upcoming battles, as the enemy uses underhanded tactics of ambush and abuse
of the warrior's honour code. In other news- the warship deliverance, with all 3 of her drop ships has been sent forward to help with the invasion.
Up and coming events.
