The club ranking system has been re-established and all ancients game results need to be sent to Ty. Any rule system may be used provided both players agree. If there is no agreement the default rule system is Australian Tactika.

q       WSGS ALL WEEKEND MEETING 16th and 17th October

Arrange your big battles for this weekend to play over both Saturday and Sunday, your game is only limited by your imagination.

What happened in June and July at WSGS

q       Full Thrust

The last mission was the most difficult yet with the team losing 3 spaceships and learning to work together when approaching the enemy, not to go in piece meal or with the smaller ships holding the centre. Seti Alpha 3 however was secured and the aliens eliminated at the end of the day. Players always welcome, see Ty.

q       Our First All weekend Meeting 19th and 20th June - The Great Celtic Big Battle

There are a number of different reports floating around about how this battle was won by the Romans, and how a great and glorious Celtic uprising could fail.  Caesar not only beat the Celts but his Greek Ally has now become a dependent given the terrible losses they suffered.

The truth is the Celtic C-C in his overconfidence deployed his troops poorly and it meant that his divisions would be victorious at the expense of the other Celtic Allied Generals. Celtic tribes are now bickering among themselves, swearing allegiance to Rome in return for revenge against the Celtic C-C.

Rumours of a Celtic Noble receiving Roman gold are false, he accepted a Roman Villa instead.

Note - We had 11 players on Saturday and 5 players on Sunday. It was a great introduction to the second edition of Tactika and a very social weekend.

q       Flames of War

This game has become a real regular at the club and has been played every meeting for the last 2 months. New players are always welcome.

q       WSGS Inaugural Dinner 10/7/2004

We had 13 adults and 8 children attend our first WSGS dinner. (I had expected 16 adults, however one was ill and pregnant (congratulations Sandra) and two pulled out that morning sick (Kieleigh and Serge)

It was a successful night with good company and lots of food, we could have fed another 6-8 adults with the food remaining. Out of the 13 adults, only 3 were current members, the rest were ex members who used the dinner to catch up on some old friendships. The kids all played well (no fighting all night) and had a session with some instruments playing medieval music.

Given I had over catered, I didn't have any money left over to beef up the prizes, however we did have prizes from:

Grey Matter games, Mark Fenlon Miniatures, Eureka Miniatures, Shadowforge, Dymocks Penrith, Infinitas (Sci Fi and Fantasy Book shop now at Civic Arcade in Parramatta.) Every child received a miniature from Grey Matter games and the venue was provided rent free by Michael and Jin.

It was a challenge to cook most of the food and serve it at another venue however once the food started coming out it went smoothly. Out of the food, the only disappointment (from the Cook's perspective) were the Patisse (little traditional Maltese pastries). I couldn't get the second Weber BBQ working correctly so I only cooked 8 on the pastries and threw out the uncooked ones at the end of the night.) When cleaning up I noticed I hadn't opened the air vent on the second BBQ, silly me.

What did we cook? Charcoal Roasted 3 large legs of Lamb with rosemary, 30 baked potatoes, 8 baked onions, 14 litres of Vegetable soup. (the stock used a smoked ham hock), 10 litres of Beef strew. (It was thickened using potatoes and beans, no flour was used) We also had 40 bread rolls and 3 cakes. To drink we had 16 litres of juice and six 750ml bottles of Ale (Home brew) My home brew received some praise too, which pleased me no end.

Trivia

We used 10kgs of potatoes, which was cheating as potatoes were not available for Europeans during the dark ages or medieval times.

Help - Webber BBQs/ Gas burners

I'd like to thank Steve Stopford and Tony Wilkinson for the Webber BBQs. WE could not have had a Charcoal roast without their assistance. I only burnt my hand once. We used the club BBQ, whoever purchased that BBQ really did a good job.

Mitchell also provided a gas burner, Jacqueline dropped it off after work at Grey Matter Games during the week.

Given she works in the city that was very thoughtful of Mitchell and Jacqueline.

Good Company.

I'd like to thank all those that made the effort to attend. Over the years the club has seen a lot of good people join and it was good seeing you all together enjoying the company and a meal together.
